Rebecca St. James - Go and Sin No More - TBN 12-31-2002

When we become Christians, we are still sinners! However, as we grow in our personal relationship with Him, we sin-less! That's our goal in our Christian walk, so we can brighter lights for Him in this "sinful dark world"!

6No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. 7Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. 9No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God."-1 John 3

What I do?

Every night before I go to bed, I go before God on my knees in prayer and ask Him to show me every "wrong" I've done today or anything unpure in His eyes. After he shows me when I reflect through the day (He shows what I should be thankful for too!) starting at the time I get up, I ask Him to forgive me for each "sin":

Sample Prayer

"Heavenly Father, show me all my sins I committed today that I may be pure in your eyes. I know I've done things wrong in your eyes that seem to be not wrong in my eyes (read down below for some Scripture verses of others that we learn something new everyday as we grow).

I want to be a brighter light (Matthew 5 "..like a city on a hill") for you tomorrow to the people you put in my path. Forgive me right now of all my sins or wrong doings in your eyes. Fill me up with your Holy Spirit and to more Christ-like. In Jesus name...Amen!"

The next morning, I usually put the Armor of God (Ephesians 6) and ask God to "equip" me with other "spiritual" gear (Fruits of the Spirit-down below....

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.-Galatians 5

..and manifest each Spiritual Gift in 1 Corinthians 12...

As you grow with God and get discipled, you began to see more "yucky" stuff in life that you began to throw away.

Hey I found a really good sinners' prayer in the bible it is in Psalm 51:1-17 King David prayed it after his affair with Bathsheba.

1 Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
4 Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight—
That You may be found just when You speak,[a]
And blameless when You judge.
5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness,
That the bones You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise. "

More Scripture Verses on Sinning-Less

"Rules for Holy Living"

"....5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry..."- Colossians 3

*Note: Idols are not "other gods" (as mentioned in the Ten Commandments) made of stone, but it could be money, sports idols, hollywood stars, or anything that you put "before God". God is a jealous God and He doesn't like anything that you put before Him! Do you put God first (e.g. financially, time, etc..)

"22So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin."-Romans 14

"Making One's Calling and Election Sure"

"5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. "-2 Peter 1

....to be ready for another "spiritual warfare" in the sinful world we live in.

Just Remember! After you come to receive Christ (saved, born-again, etc..) and have Him become Lord of your life, you are in Christ! Yes, you'll keep sinning, but instead of staying in the ground feeling guilty of the "wrong" you did-pick-up your self (like falling in your bike as a kid) and keep going!

"26If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"[d] and again, "The Lord will judge his people."[e] 31It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering. 33Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.
35So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37For in just a very little while,
"He who is coming will come and will not delay.
38But my righteous one[f] will live by faith.
And if he shrinks back,
I will not be pleased with him."[g] 39But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved."
-Hebrews 10

Our Daily Bread (Jan.28) - Murphy's Laws

"Murphys Laws are observations about life that seem to have the weight of experience behind them. Youve probably heard this one: If anything can go wrong, it will. Heres another one: You cant do just one thing; everything has its consequences.
My own experience seems to confirm many of Murphys Laws, but its that second one that I would hang on the wall as a motto. Wrong choices have their consequences. For example, if we choose to live for pleasure, that will affect our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren (Ex. 20:4-5). If we walk away from God, we may discover that our children have taken that trip with us. Later, even if we return to Him, they may not.
But there is also good news. Devotion to the Lord has its consequences too. Men and women who live in faith before God can have a strong influence on their children and their childrens children. If they live a long life, they can witness the effect their faith has had on several generations. What satisfaction it brings to older people to see their posterity living for Christ!
Murphy and the Bible agree on this point: Everything has its consequences. — Haddon W. Robinson
If you sow seeds of wickedness, Sins harvest you will reap; But scattered seeds of righteousness Yield blessings you can keep. —Sper
People who follow Christ lead others in the right direction. "

Have you ever heard that "sins" or "wrongdoings" your father, grandfather, and generations ahead of you can affect you? I was at one of my local church's homegroup last night, and the topic of "wilderness" came about. I was led to Exodus 20:4....

"You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments."-Exodus 20

I shared how God has shown me some sins of my "forefathers" within my family that I had to ask Him for forgiveness because of the current/past trials/issues I'm facing. For example there was this well-known rapper name Tupac Shakur, whose parents were in prision, and he ended up going through the similar circumstance when grew up.

Also, as a specific nation (e.g. U.S.A.), we need to ask God to forgive the sins our "forefathers"-even though we might not acting on the particular sin. For example, racism, our nation has had a long record of this (e.g. KKK, Civil War, Black Panthers, etc..). Our nation is under a blanket of a "curse" due to these past generational sins.

What do we do now? Once God has shown you a list of sins from your "forefathers", ask Him to forgive your forefathers "for they do not know what they do"...

Heavenly Father, reveal (Bible can help show you through stories from the people that went through some similar circumstances) all the generation curses/sins that has passed down to me-this generation-and "forgive them for they do not know what they done". Also, forgive me all of my sins too that has kept me bonded to live the life fully (John 10:10) you promised through your Word. Please continue to show me of all my "wrongdoings" that the next generation or my chidren will not have to go through what I went though. Come and be the Lord of my life everyday and the rest of my life, so I can fulfill the work you sent me to do on earth before you take me with you at Home-Heaven. I ask all this according to your will in the precious name...Jesus!

  • JUST A LITTLE BITTY SIN, Author Copyright Album Uploaded on Genre C. Metropolis 1983, 2010 --- Thu Jun 17, 2010 Blues : Blues General soundclick.com

  • " About the song
Is that little tiny stupid sin that you just CAN'T let go of worth sacrificing your relationship with Jesus and the fullness of God's Spirit in your life? REALLY??? Come on. "So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature." (Galatians 5:16)

    Lyrics
I've got just a little sin, just a little one:
    It'll never hurt anyone!
Oh, won't you overlook it now, won't you Lord?
It's just a little tiny one.

It's just a little bitty sin, Lord, in my heart...
    Surely that's okay with You!
I know You died for all my BIG ones, Lord,
but must I give up all my LITTLE ones, too?

Don't bother Yourself, Lord, and NEITHER WILL I!
Just let it smolder in a corner of my heart.
Nobody else knows, Lord, just You and I,
So why should that keep us apart?

    -Love

    Living for God

" 1Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. 2As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 3For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. 4They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you. 5But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.

7The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. 8Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 11If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it...-1 Corinthians 10
